Outside Texas

Do not be concerned if your judgment is from a state other than Texas, it can be enforced here....

In order to enforce a judgment from another state, you must bring an action under the Uniform Enforcement of Foreign Judgments Act ("UEFJA").  Under the UEFJA, when a copy of a properly authenticated foreign judgment is filed with the clerk of any Texas court of competent jurisdiction,  it will be treated in the same manner as a judgment of the court in which the foreign judgment is filed; that is, it has the same effect and is subject to the same procedures, defenses, and proceedings for reopening, vacating, staying, enforcing, or satisfying a judgment as a judgment of the court in which it is filed.   This merely requires that you obtain an "exemplified" judgment from the Court that originally decided the matter.  Upon filing the exemplified judgment in a Texas court, it is automatically treated as a Texas judgment and you can proceed to the "collecting judgments" phase of the process.
